As of 2026-08-25, European Metal Index indexes 25 bands sitting atop our touring-activity rankings, and the band with the most confirmed dates isn't a metal act at all. UK Subs, the veteran hardcore punk and street punk outfit, leads the board with 17 shows on the books — more than any single metal band in the top 25, including Iron Maiden and Sabaton, who are tied at 11 apiece.

The top three spots overall belong to guitar-and-melody acts operating well outside the metal mainstream: UK Subs at 17 shows, Ferocious Dog (Celtic punk / folk punk / ska punk) at 15, and Unpeople (alternative metal / pop punk / post-hardcore) at 13. Combined, these three bands alone account for 45 of the 222 total shows logged across the full top-25 list — just over one-fifth of the touring volume from 12% of the bands.

Punk Bands Are Outpacing Metal at the Top of the Board

Across the full list of 25, 14 bands carry a metal or metalcore genre tag, while 10 carry a punk tag — Unpeople straddles both categories with alternative metal and pop punk credits.
