Sinistro formed in Lisbon, Portugal in 2011, initially releasing an instrumental debut before integrating the distinctive voice of vocalist Patrícia Andrade, which became the defining element of the band's atmospheric doom and post-metal sound. After signing to Season of Mist, the band released Semente (2016) and Sangue Cássia (2018), earning praise from peers including Paradise Lost and Cult of Luna and appearances at Roadburn Festival. Their fourth full-length Vértice arrived in 2024 via Alma Mater Records. Sinistro are widely considered one of Portugal's most important metal exports, with Andrade's vocal presence lifting their work beyond genre convention.
