Mayhem formed in Oslo, Norway in 1984, founded by guitarist Øystein "Euronymous" Aarseth, bassist Jørn "Necrobutcher" Stubberud, and drummer Kjetil Manheim, and became the most notorious and influential act in the development of Norwegian black metal.
