Helhorse is a Copenhagen, Denmark heavy metal and stoner-sludge band that evolved from an earlier project called Dødning, which formed in 2006. The band adopted the Helhorse name, drawn from a 19th-century poem by Danish writer Steen Steensen Blicher in which the ghost horse serves as an omen of death, and released their debut album For Wolves and Vultures in 2010. During their active years they shared stages with Black Label Society, Exodus, and Opeth, positioning themselves within the international heavy rock touring circuit. The band was active under the Helhorse name through approximately 2019.
