Founded in 2014 across Denmark, Germany, and Norway by Kai Uwe Faust, Christopher Juul, and Maria Franz, Heilung create what they describe as 'amplified history from early medieval northern Europe,' drawing on runic inscriptions, Iron Age texts, and ancient instruments including bone rattles and reconstructed weapons. Their studio albums — Ofnir (2015), Futha (2019), and Drif (2022) — are accompanied by immersive ritual live performances that have earned comparison to theatrical ceremony more than conventional concerts. The group composed the soundtrack to Senua's Saga: Hellblade II and performed at Red Rocks Amphitheatre in 2021, cementing their crossover appeal far beyond neofolk's traditional audience.

Theodor Bastard formed in St. Petersburg, Russia in 1996 under the direction of founder Fedor Svoloch, adopting the current band name in 1999 as an English rendering of his stage pseudonym. The project is defined by the distinctive soprano vocals of Yana Veva, who frequently sings in invented languages and rare world tongues, layered over a palette of cello, harp, theremin, synthesizers, and ethnic percussion that blends neofolk with dark wave and trip hop. Albums including Pustota (2004), Oikoumene (2012), Vetvi (2015), and Volch'ya Yagoda (2020) have been released across five countries, and the band has performed at European festivals including Wave-Gotik-Treffen and Castle Party. Their work for the game Pathologic 2 (2017) introduced them to a new international audience.

Vévaki is an Icelandic neofolk and folk metal project founded in 2020 by multi-instrumentalist Will Hunter, rooted in Norse mythology, heathenism, and animistic traditions. Their debut album Edda (2020) was recorded as a solo effort before Vévaki expanded into a full band, and the follow-up Fórnspeki deepened the project's ritualistic atmosphere with broader instrumentation and additional full-time members. Signed to Season of Mist, Vévaki occupies a contemplative and mythos-driven space within contemporary Nordic folk music.
