Bodychoke was an experimental noise rock outfit active from 1993 to 1999, operating as a side project of British power electronics group Sutcliffe Jugend. Their sound combined heavy, repetitive bass-and-drum riffs with dense layers of distorted guitar noise and vocals ranging from deep murmurs to deranged screaming, with later albums incorporating cello as both melodic and ambient texture. Notable releases include Mindshaft, produced by dub musician Ott, and the Steve Albini-produced Five Prostitutes, both records that situated Bodychoke within the UK's most extreme noise and industrial underground.

Lord of the Lost was founded in Hamburg in 2007 by vocalist and multi-instrumentalist Chris Harms as a solo project before expanding into a full band. Crossing gothic metal, dark rock, and industrial influences, the group has released a series of albums on Napalm Records, beginning with Fears (2010) and continuing through Judas (2022). They gained international attention when they represented Germany at the Eurovision Song Contest 2023 with the single 'Blood & Glitter,' an appearance that brought their theatrical brand of dark rock to a mainstream European audience.

Techno Animal was formed in London in 1990 by Justin Broadrick (Godflesh) and Kevin Martin (The Bug), combining industrial noise, dub, dark ambient, and hip-hop into an early example of what would later be called illbient. Their debut Ghosts appeared in 1991, with subsequent albums released through Virgin Records, and the project disbanded in 2001 after six LPs spanning a decade. Broadrick and Martin reunited in 2017 under the name Zonal, continuing the sonic legacy of Techno Animal in a new context.

Zonal is a UK industrial dub and noise project formed in 2017 by The Bug's Kevin Martin and Godflesh's Justin Broadrick as a reformation of their 1990s collaborative outfit Techno Animal. The duo debuted with Wrecked in early 2020 on Relapse Records, a record made in collaboration with Philadelphia poet and performer Moor Mother, fusing crushing industrial textures with dub bass weight and confrontational spoken word. The project premiered live at the Unsound festival in 2017 and performed at Roadburn in 2018 before committing the collaboration to record. Wrecked stands as one of the more uncompromising industrial releases of its era.
