The 11th Hour is a Dutch doom/death metal project founded in 2008 by Ed Warby, veteran drummer of Gorefest and Ayreon, who performs all instruments and clean vocals on the recordings. The debut album Burden of Grief (2009) featured guest harsh vocals from Rogga Johansson, and their second album Lacrima Mortis (2012) featured an expanded full-band lineup including former Gorefest guitarist Frank Harthoorn. The project is currently inactive, but its two albums stand as accomplished entries in the melodic death-doom tradition.

The Abbey is a Finnish doom metal quintet formed in 2021 around vocalist Jesse Heikkinen (Iterum Nata) and co-vocalist Natalie Koskinen of funeral doom act Shape of Despair, with the lineup completed by drummer Vesa Ranta (ex-Sentenced) and guitarist Janne Markus (The Man-Eating Tree). Their debut album Word of Sin (2023) on Season of Mist weaves ritualistic themes drawn from esoteric belief systems into a sound blending progressive doom, gothic metal, and dark rock. The combination of Heikkinen's and Koskinen's contrasting vocal approaches is central to the band's distinct identity.
