French musician Gautier Serre has operated as Igorrr since 2005, self-releasing demo recordings before building an internationally recognized catalog that defies genre categorization by fusing black metal, death metal, breakcore, baroque classical music, Balkan folk, and trip hop into recordings of extreme compositional density. After signing with Metal Blade Records in 2017, the project released Savage Sinusoid (2017) and Spirituality and Distortion (2020), with earlier albums Nostril (2010) and Hallelujah (2012) establishing the foundational aesthetic of abrupt tempo shifts, operatic vocals, growling, and electronic manipulation. The project has expanded into a full live band performing Serre's compositions.
