Long Goodbye are a Durham County metalcore band whose music sits in the harsher edge of current UK hardcore. Emerging with the 2024 release i used to dream of drowning, the group quickly became associated with The Coming Strife Records and a new wave of British bands that combine metallic hardcore, mathcore tension, and chaotic emotional weight. Their songs are short, violent, and tightly wound, with jagged riffs, sudden tempo changes, collapsed grooves, and vocals that sound less like performance than rupture. Long Goodbye fit metal and hardcore scope directly through metalcore and UKHC, especially in the way their music uses breakdowns, dissonance, and panic-stricken rhythm to create pressure. Tracks such as "autolisis," "cauterising incisions," and "endlessly repairing a dying format" show a band interested in discomfort as much as impact. The production keeps the sound raw enough to feel close while still letting each shift land with force. Long Goodbye's appeal is that they do not smooth out their influences. The music feels ugly, anxious, and cathartic, carrying the spirit of heavy hardcore into a more fractured, modern shape built for no-barrier rooms and violent release.

Novelists, often styled as Novelists FR, formed in Paris in 2013 around brothers Amael and Florestan Durand and quickly became a notable French name in progressive metalcore. Souvenirs introduced the band's combination of technical guitar work, djent rhythm, and emotional melody, with songs that balanced intricate riffing against open, atmospheric choruses. Noir and C'est La Vie expanded that sound, often leaning into jazzier guitar phrasing and a more elegant sense of motion than many metalcore peers. Deja Vu and later material brought lineup changes and a different vocal identity, including the arrival of Camille Contreras, which shifted the band's texture without erasing the technical foundation. Novelists fit metalcore scope directly through their riff language, harsh vocals, breakdowns, and scene placement, but their identity depends on fluidity. The guitars often feel expressive rather than purely percussive, and the best songs let melodic detail move through heavy structures instead of sitting above them. Novelists are strongest when the musicianship feels emotional, not ornamental, making precision serve atmosphere, tension, and release.

Profiler are a Bristol heavy band who update nu metal with modern alternative-metal production and metalcore-adjacent punch. Built around vocalist and guitarist Mike Evans, the group favors thick groove riffs, clean melodic hooks, rap-influenced cadence, and breakdown pressure that connects early-2000s influence to current heavy music. Their EPs and debut album A Digital Nowhere show a band interested in internal conflict, identity, illusion, and overload, with songs such as "Miserable," "Alpha Nine," "Glitch Theory," "Animo," and "Operator" moving between bounce, melody, and aggression. Profiler fit metal-adjacent scope through nu metal, alternative metal, and heavy touring context, while their cleaner choruses keep the music accessible beyond core audiences. The band does not simply copy the first wave of nu metal; it tightens that language with sharper production and a more anxious modern mood. Profiler's strongest tracks work when the rhythm section locks into a head-nod groove and the vocals shift from vulnerability to bite, making the music feel both familiar and current.
