Stream of Passion formed in the Netherlands in 2005 as a collaboration between Ayreon architect Arjen Anthony Lucassen and Mexican vocalist, violinist, and lyricist Marcela Bovio, the two composing the debut album Embrace the Storm entirely over the internet. When Lucassen departed after the first record to focus on other projects, Bovio took over the band's leadership, guiding it through three additional studio albums: The Flame Within (2009), Darker Days (2011), and A War of Our Own (2014). The band dissolved in 2016 before reuniting in 2022 for new material including the EP Beautiful Warrior (2023). Stream of Passion occupy a unique space within progressive and symphonic metal, defined above all by Bovio's expressive vocal presence and violin work.
