Antichrisis is a German Gothic and folk rock project founded in 1995 near the Belgian border by songwriter and vocalist Sid, initially exploring gothic and progressive black metal before shifting toward medieval folk and Celtic rock after 1998. The band signed to Napalm Records for the folk-leaning 1999 album A Legacy of Love, with Irish bagpiper Alexander May adding a defining textural element to their sound. Later activity consolidated around a core duo of Sid and vocalist Ayuma, with the band releasing the self-produced album Not Fade Away in 2012.

Schandmaul is a German medieval folk rock band formed in Munich in the summer of 1998 by six musicians who united for a folk rock concert and chose to write original material rather than perform covers. The band's name translates roughly as 'malicious tongue,' and their sound pairs hurdy-gurdy, bagpipes, and shawm with electric guitar and bass to create a distinctive Mittelalter rock blend. One of the main protagonists of the German medieval rock movement alongside Subway to Sally and In Extremo, Schandmaul has placed six albums in the German top ten charts, with Unendlich (2014) peaking at number two.
