Slime formed in Hamburg, Germany in 1979, initially playing in the style of late-1970s British punk before evolving into the defining act of Deutschpunk — a distinctly German strand of hardcore punk with complex song structures and politically charged, story-driven lyrics. Albums including Yankees Raus (1982) and Alle Gegen Alle (1983) established their template, while Schweineherbst (1994) — released following a period of dissolution and reformation — is widely regarded as their finest work. Slime's consistent opposition to racism, fascism, and xenophobia made them not only musically influential but a cornerstone of German left-wing punk culture across more than four decades.

SLOPE formed in Duisburg, Germany in 2014, crafting a crossover sound that fuses hardcore punk urgency with the funk-inflected groove of acts like Suicidal Tendencies, Stuck Mojo, and Living Colour. After two EPs released between 2014 and 2017, the band issued their debut full-length Street Heat in 2021, followed by the sophomore album Freak Dreams in February 2024. SLOPE's ability to get metalheads and hardcore regulars moving simultaneously reflects a rare command of rhythm-forward aggression that distinguishes them within the European crossover scene.

Sore Throat formed in Huddersfield, England in 1987, becoming one of the earliest and most extreme proponents of noisecore — a subgenre of grindcore defined by total sonic disintegration, ultra-short song lengths, and confrontational anti-music aesthetics. Their debut Unhindered by Talent (1988) and the 101-track Disgrace to the Corpse of Sid demonstrated a commitment to extreme volume and brevity that would anticipate the most violent edges of grindcore. Active until 1990, with a brief 1991 reunion, the band influenced the British underground disproportionate to their short lifespan. A new EP, Starving Wolves Stand & Fight!, arrived in 2022 on Bandcamp.

SSS

GB · 2005–present · active
SSS (Short Sharp Shock) formed in Liverpool, England in 2005, delivering a high-velocity crossover thrash sound shaped equally by hardcore punk, thrash metal, and grindcore. Signing to Earache Records, the band released The Dividing Line (2008) and Problems to the Answer (2011) before concluding their career with Limp. Gasp. Collapse. (2014) on Prosthetic Records. SSS operated at the more abrasive end of the British crossover revival, with a commitment to brevity and brutality that aligned them with the grindcore underground as much as the thrash audience. The band subsequently went on indefinite hold.
