Ye Banished Privateers
Founded after a night at a pirate-themed bar in Umeå, Sweden in 2008 by Björn Malmros and Peter Mollwing, Ye Banished Privateers have grown into a collective of nearly thirty musicians performing sea shanties, folk rock, and folk metal built around 17th- and 18th-century piracy and maritime history. Their live performances blend music with theatrical costume and staging, functioning as a hybrid of concert and historical reenactment. After self-releasing Songs and Curses (2012), the band eventually signed with Napalm Records and released Hostis Humani Generis (2020) and 'Til the Sea Shall Give Up Her Dead (2025).
