Trepalium
Trepalium formed in Boismé, France in 2001, developing a death metal style inflected with groove, progressive structures, and jazz and blues elements that placed them within the eclectic wing of the French extreme metal scene. Their debut Through the Absurd (2004) was produced by Joe Duplantier of Gojira, establishing a connection to the broader French extreme metal network sometimes referred to as the Konosphere. Alchemik Clockwork of Disorder (2006) and XIII (2009) followed, each leaning further into the band's genre-blending approach. Trepalium remained active through 2024, over two decades of consistently unconventional extreme metal.
