Swallow The Sun
Founded in Jyväskylä, Finland in 2000 by guitarist Juha Raivio, Swallow the Sun are among the most prominent practitioners of melodic death-doom metal, blending gothic atmosphere, black metal passages, and funeral doom weight across nine studio albums. Key releases include Ghosts of Loss (2005), the triple album Songs from the North I, II & III (2015), and Moonflowers (2021), accumulating over 50 million Spotify streams and a 900-show touring history across four continents. The band's name draws from Finnish mythology and the region's long, sunless winters.
