Molassess emerged from the Netherlands in 2019 when members of the defunct occult rock band The Devil's Blood — including vocalist Farida Lemouchi — convened for a commissioned performance at Roadburn Festival. The project released its debut single Mourning Haze / Drops of Sunlight via Ván Records that year and followed with the full-length Through the Hollow on Season of Mist in 2023, a sprawling, psychedelic occult rock record that carries on the atmospheric and ritualistic spirit of their predecessors.
