Matavitatau
Founded in Ghent in 2021 by two mid-40s metal enthusiasts and a younger drummer, Matavitatau write and perform all their black metal exclusively in Latin, drawing lyrical content from Roman poets such as Horace, Seneca, and Lucan as well as medieval authors Egbert of Liège and Bernard of Cluny. Their 2025 debut demo Numen Nescio, released on Italian label Canti Eretici Productions, drew comparisons to Mayhem's De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas for its raw atmosphere and dynamic precision.
