Originally from Chelyabinsk, Russia, and later relocated to Helsinki, Kauan plays cinematic post-metal that evokes languor and nostalgia through viola, choirs, slow piano melodies, and neoclassical arrangements. Their 2025 album Wayhome, a 50-minute composition in Dolby Atmos, represents their most ambitious work across a discography that evolved from folk and doom metal roots.
