Gortaven is a French one-man black metal project drawing from 1990s extreme metal and punk influences ranging from Marduk and Carpathian Forest to Discharge and GBH. The prolific solo effort has produced five releases including Damnation, Désolation, and Le Livre des Âmes, all steeped in raw aggression.
