Entombed A.D. formed in Stockholm, Sweden in 2014 after vocalist Lars-Göran Petrov and guitarist Nico Elgstrand were forced to operate under a new name following a legal dispute over the Entombed trademark. Carrying forward the death 'n' roll style pioneered on Wolverine Blues, the band released Dead Dawn (2016) and Bowels of Earth (2019) before Petrov's death from cholangiocarcinoma in March 2021 brought the project to a close. As direct continuers of one of Sweden's most influential death metal lineages, their catalog preserved the buzzsaw guitar tone and hard rock swagger that defined Swedish death metal's second wave.
