Ceremonial Oath
Ceremonial Oath formed in Gothenburg, Sweden in 1989 as Desecrator, adopting their final name in 1991, and became one of the earliest bands to develop the melodic death metal sound that would make the Gothenburg scene internationally renowned. The band's two studio albums, The Book of Truth (1993) and Carpet (1995), preceded the mainstream breakthrough of that scene, and the lineup included future members of In Flames, HammerFall, and Dark Tranquillity. They disbanded in 1996 and reunited briefly for the Gothenburg Sound Festival in 2013.
