Archont are an Austrian black/death metal project who take their name from the Gnostic demiurgic rulers — a conceptual angle that filters into dark, esoteric lyrical themes and a sound that blends the tremolo-driven dissonance of black metal with the brutish density of death metal. Their music is deliberately confrontational and theologically provocative.
