Angel Dust is a German heavy metal band formed in Dortmund in 1984, releasing their debut Into the Dark Past in 1986 during the height of the German speed and thrash metal movement. After disbanding in 1990, the band reformed in 1998 with a new vocalist and a significantly more melodic power metal orientation, signing to Century Media Records and releasing acclaimed albums including Border of Reality (1998), Bleed (1999), and Enlighten the Darkness (2000). They are one of the more notable examples of a German thrash act successfully reinventing themselves as a power metal band.
